The final Treaty was a compromise between the Big Three. Britain and France did not support Wilson's 14 points and Britain and America would not support a Treaty that would totally cripple Germany. Wilson was able to agree that the League of Nations was set up and part of all the peace treaties, however back in the US people feared that if American joined they would be pulled into another European war. Britain defended its naval strength and empire, Lloyd George had not been happy about access to the sea and self determination, however immediately felt that the Treaty was perhaps too harsh. However all the leaders were under alot of public pressure to punish Germany.
