How was Germany punished?

The Terms of the Treaty can be remembered as the 5 L's. However don't write this in your exam.

Loss of Military - no air force, no tanks, no submarines, only 100,000 men, no conscription, 6 battleships. A small military for a large country.

Loss of Land - Loss of Alsace Lorraine to France, Land to Poland to form the Polish Corridor, Upper Silesa to Poland, Sudetenland to form Czechoslovakia, overseas colonies e.g. Cameroon, Anschluss - Union with Austria forbidden.

Loss of Pride - War Guilt Clause 231 - Germany responsible for the War.

Loss of money - Reparations payments of 6600M

League of Nations - Germany were not allowed to join until they showed they were a peace loving nation. They eventuall;y joined in 1926.
